Monte-Carlo Calculations (GEANT4) of Ions Resulting of the Irradiation and Interaction of a Static Electric Field and Some Experimental Tests – an Attractive Way to Improve the Enhancement of the Yield of Hydrogen

Abstract:
The past decade has emerged a growing interest in the electrolysis and Hydrogen technology as a surrogate of the conventional energy sources. Many novel materials have been tested to improve the Hydrogen yield and to reach a breakthrough with them. In the present analysis the electrolysis with additional 6 MV ionizing radiation produced by a linear accelerator has been tested in order to suggest γ-radiation of radioactive waste of nuclear reactors and other sources, which is the goal of this study. For this purpose, a box consisting of laboratory glass filled with water and capacitors as electrodes has been used for the performance of the tests. The experimental tests have provided significant differences of the Hydrogen release, if the test phantom has been subjected to radiation and the comparison without it. A theoretical insight obtained by the consideration an extension of the diffusion equation by a static electric field in order to describe the transport of ions. Quantitative examinations have been made possible by Monte Carlo calculations with GEANT4, which provided good agreement with experimental data, since this code is also applicable by inclusion of external electric and magnetic fields.

Extreme Bound Analysis Based on Correlation Coefficient for Optimal Regression Model

Authors : Loc Nguyen
DOI : doi.org/10.47752/sjsr.61.9.13
Abstract:
Regression analysis is an important tool in statistical analysis, in which there is a demand of discovering essential independent variables among many other ones, especially in case that there is a huge number of random variables. Extreme bound analysis is a powerful approach to extract such important variables called robust regressors. In this research, I propose a so-called Regressive Expectation Maximization with RObust regressors (REMRO) algorithm as an alternative method beside other probabilistic methods for analyzing robust variables.  By the different ideology from other probabilistic methods, REMRO searches for robust regressors forming optimal regression model and sorts them according to descending ordering given their fitness values determined by two proposed concepts of local correlation and global correlation. Local correlation represents sufficient explanatories to possible regressive models and global correlation reflects independence level and stand-alone capacity of regressors. Moreover, REMRO can resist incomplete data because it applies Regressive Expectation Maximization (REM) algorithm into filling missing values by estimated values based on ideology of expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. From experimental results, REMRO is more accurate for modeling numeric regressors than traditional probabilistic methods like Sala-I-Martin method but REMRO cannot be applied in case of nonnumeric regression model yet in this research.

Cultural Beliefs and Practices and Their Relationship with Food Consumption in Nigeria

Abstract:
Food has multiple functions for the consumer: it is at one and the same time a source of pleasure, platform for socializing, tool for strengthening family life, and an avenue for personal growth. Having access to nutritious food will have a positive impact on people’s nutritional status only when these nutritious foods are actually bought, transformed into meals, and eaten. People’s dietary intake is the result of a complex range of decisions, and all these decisions have impact on dietary intake and consequently nutritional status. Hence the way people relate to food is complex, and purely nutritional considerations are not always at the forefront of their minds. This paper x-rayed one of the complex ranges of decision which is, relationship between cultural belief practices and food consumption using Nigeria diverse culture as a case study. Nigeria is a multicultural country with a diverse cultural food. Culture influence food consumption in various ways such as tradition, religion and family composition; socio-cultural factors bearing on food and nutrition range from material technologies to implicit ideologies and symbols, and interrelated in an original pattern. For most people food is cultural not nutritional, for example a plant or animal may be edible in one society and inedible in another. The cultural factors involved in food habits and consumption is that, there are many combination of food which will give same nutritional results. A review of the literature on Nigerian cultural diets which is mainly staple food identified gaps in knowledge with respect to the nutritional values of Nigerian ethnic diets. Different cultures differ not only in the way food is produced, prepared and consumed, but also in the attitudes toward the relationship between food, health and pleasure, and in the ways through which food is acquired, prepared, processed and consumed in everyday physical spaces.
